ACT’s Amazing People

We’ve launched our first ever radio show with Cambridge Radio to share all the amazing stories behind our work, which in the last 30 years has seen more than £150 million invested in improving patient care at Addenbrooke’s.

Gavin Richards, Co-presenter of the show, recently won a silver for Male Presenter of the Year in the Community Radio Awards for his Saturday morning show on Cambridge Radio from 10am – 12 noon.

Gavin Richards and Danni Smith speak to Dr Louise Allen, a paediatric ophthalmologist at Addenbrooke’s with an impressive record of serial innovation. She’s currently testing a device she developed for screening eyesight in newborns – which could change the approach to screening congenital cataracts, the leading cause of avoidable blindness worldwide.

Gavin Richards and Danni Smith hear the extraordinary health journey of Sunita, one of this year’s Cambridge Half runners, who is taking part and running for Addenbrooke’s despite a recent liver transplant and treatment for cancer. They also speak to father and daughter Garry and Arlea who have particularly personal reasons to raise awareness of childhood cancer.
