Research policy

Funding medical research is one of the ways ACT supports Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH).

We do this so that research can drive evidence-based practice, innovation and excellence in patient care, not only for the benefit of present and future CUH patients but also for the wider NHS. We aim to work strategically through highly focused investments that maximise the impact of the research funding we provide and work in partnership with researchers and other funders such as the NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre and the Evelyn Trust.

We are committed to using fair and efficient peer review to assess the quality of research proposals and are most grateful to be able to regularly rely on the expertise of CUH’s Research Advisory Committee (chaired by Professor John Bradley) to identify meritorious proposals and make recommendations to ACT's Charitable Expenditure Committee and Trustee Board. Each of our grants is carefully managed and evaluated to maximise the impact of the funding we provide.
