Make a Will Week 2018 - dates confirmed!

Writing your will can seem too expensive, and it is easy to put it off. However, it is vital to have an up-to-date will, otherwise your wishes may not be carried out and your family, loved ones and the charities close to your heart may not benefit.

To help overcome these barriers, we will be holding our annual Make a Will Week from 23-27 April 2018. The scheme allows you to make or update your will without paying the usual fee.

Kind-hearted local solicitors and will-writers will be waiving their standard fees in return for you making a donation to change patients’ lives at Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals.

Steve Gracey wrote his will during Make a Will Week 2017: “My wife and I had been talking about writing wills for years, but we kept putting it off. Not only because we thought it would be complicated, but also, we thought it could be quite expensive.

But writing it through Make A Will Week made it so simple. The solicitors were very professional and flexible with booking the appointment. We didn’t have to provide hundreds of documents, which we were worried we would.

It is great to know that we have finally got up-to-date wills, and that the money we donated will be used to make a difference to patients’ lives at Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie.”

Alice Macek, ACT Gifts in Will Manager, said: “Taking part in Make a Will Week is an excellent way to ensure your families and loved ones are taken care of, at the same time as supporting our much-loved local hospitals.”

Many people choose to leave a gift in their Will to a charity close to their heart. Alice explains: “ACT receives almost a third of our charitable income thanks to gifts left in wills; many people think they have to be rich, or leave a lot of money, but we really appreciate gifts of any size. They all make a difference for patients, supporting improvements to patient care, facilities and research for generations to come.”
