Other ways you can help

Sell something for money

Do you have unwanted items to sell? Why not list them online and help collect a percentage of your sale for ACT.

Choose ACT as your chosen charity when listing your items for sale on eBay.

eBay chips in by reducing their fees pro-rata: if you donate 20% then they reduce their fees by 20%. Charity listings often attract more attention and higher bids so you may end up with the same amount of money, but our patients will also benefit.

If you are thinking of knitting for us the list below will give you an idea of what we can use and where it will be use.

The Rosie Maternity Hospital

Thanks to all of our local knitting groups, the Rosie Hospital is regularly stocked with knitted cardigans and blankets, ready for new parents to use and take home with their babies.

The Beads of Courage scheme used in NICU helps childen with serious illnesses commemorate milestones that they have achieved during their treatment. Here is a pattern for the bags where children can store their beads.

As part of a teaching exercise for new mothers, the staff at the Rosie use knitted breasts to demonstrate breastfeeding techniques for mothers to give their newborns the best start to life.

Novelty items

Whilst we are unable to use knitted toys on the wards, due to infection control and meeting fire hazard standards, knitted toys are always a hit on our Outpatient stalls and stalls we have throughout the community. Funds raised by our stalls goes to fund areas of the Addenbrooke's and Rosie hospitals with the greatest need.

If there is something you would particularly like to knit which is not on our list, please contact the Community Fundraising team on 01223 217757 or email with any ideas and projects you may have.
