Samantha's story

Samantha Isaacson

Samantha Isaacson, 26, from Cambridge, was admitted to Addenbrooke’s with suspected gallstones in March 2015.

After undergoing a range of tests doctors found lesions on her liver, which were found to be cancerous. They later discovered that these had originated in the bowel.

Despite the responsibilities of a busy job as behaviour support manager at Gretton School in Girton and captaining her football team, the Fulbourn Institute Bluebirds, Samantha was determined to keep living her life to the full, while undergoing treatment.

In October last year she organised the #KickCancerCup at Histon football ground, raising £10,123 for the oncology department at Addenbrooke’s.

Today, following her amazing achievement Samantha is still undergoing chemotherapy treatment in the oncology day unit.

She said: I arranged the match to say thank you to all the staff at Addenbrooke’s for the fantastic care they give me. I can’t thank them enough.”
