Raising money for PICU (Paediatric Intensive Care Unit)

Martin French is married to Sue French, the Ward Manager on PICU. He was a capable member of the recent PICU Piranha Rugby squad and has heard from his wife the ongoing needs in the unit and now wants to add to the funds. As well as being nagged by the boss he knows first hand how important it is to maintain the unit as a centre of excellence as his nephew was treated on PICU a few years ago.

The event, on 19th July 2008, is called Sudbury 2 the Sea 'Take it to the Bridge'.

Martin Said: "The trip will run from the Quay Theatre in Sudbury to the Catterwade bridge (the end of the river and start of the Harwich estuary) a total distance of 30.55km.

"Crew for the challenge will be Martin, Dorrian Smyth and Aaron Digby. We currently paddle at 3.2km an hour so with breaks it's going to be an arduous 12 hour day.

"Please support us on this worthy challenge. Dorrian and Aaron have visited the unit and are really enthusiastic about supporting this cause. And remember, I have to live with the boss so there is no choice but to succeed!"
