Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU)
One access point for all emergency admissions arriving at Addenbrooke's.
The year old EAU provides one 'front door' for patients where they are assessed by an integrated multi-professional team including doctors, nurses and other staff who make early decisions about treatment and care. This enables the team to decide whether patients can be discharged, managed within the EAU or need a specialist opinion or possible admission to a main hospital ward.
The unit features medical and surgical short-stay wards, and adult Clinical Decisions Unit and a Children's Observation Unit, improved access to radiology facilities, rapid pathology testing and rapid access clinic facilities for emergency patients.
Lewin Stroke and Rehabilitation Unit
The Unit opened in 2000 and has 20 beds with patients managed by a specialist multi-disciplinary team. The Unit is one of the leading national centres for stroke research and treats over 500 patients each year.
Funds are being sought to equip and run an acute stroke bay with monitoring facilities to offer more intensive care of stroke patients within the first 48 hours of their illness when the brain is most vulnerable.

Oncology
The Oncology Centre:
- is the focus of cancer care at Addenbrooke's providing state-of-the-art treatment to patients from Cambridge and across the whole of East Anglia.
- works closely with teams within Cambridge University to take forward research into screening, prevention and treatment.
Demand for treatment is rising and there is increasing pressure on the resources available.
The Oncology Department needs extra funds to extend the Day Unit in order to treat more patients. A bigger day unit would allow a higher number of patients in order to treat more patients and to deliver the highest quality of care.
They need you to help them remain at the forefront of cancer management and make the biggest possible difference to the lives of our patients.

Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Addenbrooke's is an eight-bed ward caring for sick children who need very close observation from doctors, nurses and other members of the PICU team.
Many of PICU's patients are admitted as emergencies, or transfers from other wards at Addenbrooke's or other hospitals. Some of PICU's patients have a planned stay in the Unit after an operation.
