About ACT

What we do

Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust is the charity for Addenbrooke's Hospital and its associated hospitals.

ACT's objective is to support and promote the work of the hospitals for the benefit of patients and staff, by raising extra funds to enhance services, facilities and research.

ACT manages the charitable funds in an effective way and aims to invest and disburse money successfully, ensuring that funds are used for the purposes for which they are raised.

Charitable donations have contributed to funds in most departments. The money has been used to buy new, high-tech equipment, pay for additional staff, contribute to environmental enhancements and has gone towards research to help improve the understanding of conditions and find possible cures.

Background

The charity in its present form results from the grouping under one body of trustees of the former Addenbrooke's Charities, The Addenbrooke's Hospital Cancer Scan Appeal Fund and The Fund for Addenbrooke's.

The new charity initially took the name Fund & Friends of Addenbrooke's but on 1st January 2006 assumed the name Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT). It is felt this name best represents the role and function of the charity.

Early 2007 saw the launch of a new logo and branding, creating a dynamic and modern appearance. ACT had a successful year in 2007 since taking on its new identity and hopes to continue this success with many new events organised for 2008. See our Events page for more.
